Berlin/Vaduz, 2 March 2010 - Today, Tuesday, Liechtenstein Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick met German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle for a working visit in Berlin.
The agenda items at the meeting, which had been scheduled for quite some time, included bilateral relations between the two countries, cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations, and the development of Afghanistan. The current status of negotiations regarding expansion of economic and tax cooperation between Germany and Liechtenstein were also discussed.
Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick expressed her satisfaction after the meeting. Today’s talks had made clear that the further development of bilateral relations is on a promising path.
Already last year, Liechtenstein and Germany concluded a tax information exchange agreement, and the two countries are currently negotiating a double taxation agreement.
Both sides also emphasized the need to reform the United Nations Security Council. Also in view of the current situation in Afghanistan, the two foreign ministers agreed that concerted international effort is needed to bring stability to the country and its population, Foreign Minister Frick said.
